Glasgow 1999: Homes for the Future

This project began as a competition entry for sustainable housing in Glasgow, part of Glasgow's City of Design '99 festival. The building design tends toward the more high-tech, very low energy approach. The walls are 400mm thick, with a U-Value of 0.15. This, combined with efficient heating, ventilation and windows, gives the whole building a SAP Rating of over 95.

Other features include barrier free access, natural ventilation and a passively heated entryway to minimise heat loss through doors.

The project went on to win the competition and is now built in Glasgow Green.
